Rick Stein - Fresh Fish Simply Cooked
My favorite food is fish, so it was no surprise that when I first saw one of Rick Stein’s cooking shows on TV I was instantly hooked. Maybe cooking show isn’t the right word, his programmes are more like quests, odysseys. Rick Stein didn’t start out as TV chef, but as a passionate chef his enthusiasm for the great local seafood led him to make his first TV cookery series in ‘95. In my opinion, Rick is one of the better seafood chefs around, who doesn’t tend to make his dishes overly complicated. The only thing you might notice lacking is a decent plate presentation, but who needs a fancy presentation when you use the freshest best ingredients in a simple recipe.
If you ever saw Rick Stein in one of his series, you must know Chalky, his faithful Jack Russel. Unfortunately Chalky passed away earlier this year. He may never have actually wielded a knife, but Chalky the dog had one of the greatest fan followings of any star of a chef show. The writing on the wall came when Rick Stein declined to bring Chalky on his French Odyssey. Chalky was deemed too old and tired for a long trip. Chalky, who finally passed away in January 2007 will be missed by alot of fans. You can watch a little tribute to chalky by clicking “more”
In the near future I am going to post some video recipes of Rick Stein, but meanwhile you can download one of his cooking series “Rick Stein’s French Odyssey” from DigitalDistractions. Unfortunately at this moment I have no link or source for “Rick Stein’s Seafood Odyssey”, but sooner or later I might be able to get my hands on the dvd set (if anyone wants to part with his dvd set or can get me some nice rips, please contact me).
