Over here in Belgium, horse meat is a pretty common thing. You can buy it in the form of steak, but it’s most commonly sold in the form of very thin smoked slices of horse meat, and you usually eat it on bread. Apparently, it’s still a taboo food in most English-speaking countries such as the UK, the US and Australia. Janet Street-Porter serves up a portion to the British.
This video might offend you, it might shock you, but don’t judge it until you’ve tried it or at least until after you’ve watched this video.

I can’t believe how heartless you are! Oh my God!What kind of parents raised you? Selecting a lovely horse to be hideously murdered?! And petting it? What are you going to do next? Go to the Phillipines and select a cute little dog to eat? Or a sweet fluffy cat? If Britain is concerned about west nile and the bird flu ever think of going meatless? Millions of us do and we’re more healthy than ever. No animal has lost his or her life just to feed me. There are plenty of other foods that will sustain me just fine. I think you should just crawl back into the hole you came out of.

What a vile and cruel beast you are Ms. Street Porter. How can you have such a blackened heart when it comes to innocent animals. Horses, like cats and dogs are not wild animals, they are not livestock and they are not suitable for human consumption! They are domesticated, companion animals! The fact that “Gordon” (which I also found utterly repulsive that you named him before paying to have him murdered and butchered alive) came up to you in the field and was calm and allowed you to pat him on his neck means he was not a wild animal and that he is, excuse me, was used to human beings and interaction. Obviously he was someone’s pet! The majority of horses sent to slaughter are those that have been stolen from a loving family! I find you incredibly morally repugnant and I pray that innocent Gordon haunts you in your dreams every night. You have taken part in the murder of an innocent, breathing soul who was put here on earth by God. We are all God’s children, animal and human. And you have murdered a child of God. I only pray one day that someone does not befriend you, use you for 15 minutes of fame and then stands back while your throat is slit and you are hoisted up by your back legs with chains as you are skinned and gutted alive. I pray someone never does this to someone you know or love because I can’t imagine the horrific pain and suffering one goes through when this happens. It has been proven that when this happens to horses they feel the excruciating pain and are completely conscious and aware of what is happening to them. Shame on you Ms. Street-Porter for using your ‘celebrity’ and ability to reach the people through your media outlet to educate your fellow Britons about the absolutely inhumane and cowardice act of horse slaughter.
As an American I have always thought of and been told nothing but that English people are civilized and much more eloquent than we ‘ignorant Americans’ are. It saddens me to learn this has all been a lie. At least we ‘ignorant Americans’ have banned the slaughter of horses for human consumption. I have no interest in visiting the United Kingdom or supporting you or any of your fellow colleagues at the British Food Network. A far as I’m concerned you and Mr. Gordon Ramsay (another English chef I USED to support and think highly of) and his penchant for equine meat and the whole lot of you in the UK can become failures in your business ventures and suffer the misery that which you inflict on innocent children of God!

To Allison:
You are basically saying you cannot eat an animal if it is ’sweet and cute’ or if it had (emotional forms of) interaction with humans. Obviously many people find chickens or cows not as cute as dogs, cats or horses. They are still living creatures though… It would be very hypocrite to say that animals such as horses shouldn’t be slaughtered just because you find them cute. What you call livestock, are animals too, just like horses.
By the way, there is no god. Maybe it is time for you to stop living in that illusion.

You are disgusting inside and out. Cruel ugly monster evil beast you are, you make me cry. You are eating one of my favorite animals in the world. Horses are so beautiful and they have done so much for us. They love us and trust us and try to be so gentle to us. They are companion animals and you want to take them to be eaten. You want to take people’s pets and kill them. Absolutely heartless of you. Also you took the most beautiful horse at that farm and you choosed to kill it and ate the insides of the horse that seemed to like you at first because he let you pet him. I don’t care if horse meat is very good for you because every meat just rottens in your stomach. You may think animals don’t have feelings, well of course they have feelings, don’t they scream when they are killed? Gosh I just sure hope you don’t start to eat dogs & cats because horses are just as important as cats & dogs. You are certainly scary. Horses are so beautiful and it is like you want to kill all the horses hat a lot of people love. Absolutely evil, one of he most disgusting human beings!!!!!!!
